We Love Our Cape Charles, VA Neighborhood

In 1883, William L. Scott purchased three plantations equaling approximately 2,509 acres from the heirs of former Virginia Governor Littleton Waller Tazewell. Of this land, 136 acres went to create the Town of Cape Charles. Bay Storage is happily nestled in Northampton County and has continued to serve the members of Cape Charles and surrounding areas with excellent storage supplies. We have a special Cape Charles event that is near and dear to our hearts and we want to share it with you. We love our Cape Charles, VA neighborhood and hope you do too!

Cape Charles, VA Neighborhood

This year’s 21st Annual February Freeze is on Saturday, February 25th at Cape Charles Public Beach at 11:00 am. This is a fundraising event attended by “Dippers” and they’re families as well as our Towns Folks.  Spectators congregate all along the beachfront to support and watch the 30 – 50 plus participants. Dippers, sponsors and even pets run into the chilly Chesapeake Bay. Help us raise money for Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Shore. Some dippers even come in costumes. There is usually a free lunch gathering at a local church hall afterwards. Awards are given to the person or group that raised the most money.

If you are looking to help but don’t want to dip in the icy waters check out the fundraising event the Easter Shore Habitat for Humanity is hosting. The Eastern Shore of Virginia Habitat for Humanity Facebook page states, “Blake Johnson, owner of the Island House Restaurant, is our celebrity Dipper. In order to raise funds for his sponsorship, Blake is hosting “Raising the Roof at the Island House”. It will be on February 4, 2017 at the Island House, from 6pm-11pm. A continuous Buffet Dinner is served throughout the evening. Including BBQ Ribs, oysters, clams and house wine.” Last year’s event celebrity dipper Chef Johny Mo raised $1000 and the local Sheriff’s department raised $5460 to help support Habitat for Humanity. So, come out and support a local event.

“Its a special event for me, as my entire family has taken turns to collect and “Dip” for Habitat for Humanity for over 10 years,” says our on-site manager.
